Fundación ONCE and the ILO Global Business and Disability Network have developed the publication "Making the future of work inclusive of persons with disabilities" in the framework of this initiative.
For the first time, the document analyses the key trends shaping the "Future of Work" from a disability perspective. Trends such as the technological revolution, the demand of new skills, cultural and demographic changes as well as the climate change are the object of reflection to identify the challenges and opportunities that those can present for the inclusion of people with disabilities in the labour market.
Inspired by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Agenda 2030, the publication constitutes a specific contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 8 "Decent work and economic growth", which target 8.5 specifically mentions persons with disabilities.
The publication, which has counted with the collaboration of a group of experts from worldwide organizations, maintains that the future of work is not "given" but that it is possible to shape it with the contribution of all stakeholders, so that no one is left behind. In order to mitigate risks and make the most of opportunities presented to people with disabilities, it suggests to act urgently, focusing on five objectives, from which measures are derived for public administrations, businesses, disability entities, trade unions and academia, with an important role of alliances.
